Have You Checked Out My YouTube Channel Yet?
If not… this is your sign 👀
It’s where I'll be sharing step-by-step tutorials so you can actually make wire flowers with me, not just watch them.
If you’re just getting started, I’ve also uploaded a video covering all the essential materials and tools you’ll need— Please watch this video before reviewing this post. it will be super helpful before diving into your first piece.
Materials + Where to Get Them
After trying out a lot of different options, I’ve found a couple of go-to sources that I personally use and trust.
For Practice & Getting Started
If you’re experimenting and don’t want to worry about “wasting” materials while learning, I recommend Benecreat.
They offer great value for the price, especially since their wire spools tend to be longer. It’s a really good option when you’re practicing and getting comfortable with shaping.
For Higher Quality & Color Work
If you’re ready to create something more refined—or want beautiful, vivid colors—I recommend MandalaCraft.
This is what I use when I’m making pieces for sale, especially for colored wire flowers. Their color selection is amazing, and the quality feels consistent and reliable. The spool length might be a bit shorter compared to other options, but the finish and color payoff are absolutely worth it.
Essential Tools
You’ll need a basic wire plier set including:
- Wire cutter
- Flat nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
Shop for the tool set - https://amzn.to/4vFki4T
These will cover pretty much everything you need to start shaping and refining your flowers.
Wire Sizes to Use
If you’re just starting out, I’d recommend using 20 or 18 gauge wire. Anything stiffer can tire your hands out fast, especially in the beginning. These are easier to bend, more forgiving if you need to fix something, and just overall nicer to work with while you’re learning. Once you feel more comfortable, you can start trying out different sizes and see what works best for your style.
